  • Compact Disc (CD) + Digital Album

This album was recorded in stages between Summer 2015 and Spring 2016, at its core are a number of radical new versions of Western Wind.

Western Wind is a traditional lyric-poem dating from 1150-1500 C.E.
As a lyric poem it acquired the tune later but both tune and words, as we'd recognize them today are recorded in print from a collection dated to 1530.

The tune and poem are taken apart electronically and reinterpreted through ambient and electronic forms, fusing the choral history of the tune with the possibilities of technology.

Vocals on Track 2 and 4 are by Bird Radio www.birdradio.co.uk

Track 4 features Michael Ridge on home-made spring rack instrument.

Strings are played by The Sound Celestial Orchestra

All other sounds and electronics by Audio Obscura (Neil Stringfellow)

Cover design and sleeve by David Barrington.

Western Wind is a traditional lyric-poem dating from 1150-1500 C.E. although it maybe older and date back as far as the crusades although its true meaning and origin are obscure.

Our sound is mainly odd electronics for the ears not the dance floor, it is the melting of the wide spectrums of electro-acoustic music, musique concrète, idm and occasional field recordings, with post-classical minimal leanings and banging out something on the piano. ... more
